3. The Index Management Tool Home Screen (Default Page)

After clicking the Index Managemt Tool icon, the user will be directed to the home screen. The home screen consists of the menu pane on the left side and the main screen (Fig. 3.1):

The menu pane contains several items (Fig. 3.2):

Add Index - Clicking this link will create a new textbase/index.

My Indexes - Clicking this link will list all the textbases/indexes created by the signed-in user. This option is selected by default when a user opens the Index Management Tool.

Group Indexes - Clicking this link will list all the textbases/indexes created by all the members of the group that a signed-in user belongs to.

Public Indexes - Clicking this link will list all the textbases/indexes that were marked as "Public" and thus are visible to all the users of the Index Management Tool.

Active Indexes - Clicking this link will list all the active textbases/indexes in the system.

All Indexes - Clicking this link will list all the textbases/indexes stored in the tool.

Help - Clicking this link will open the quick start guide for the Index Management Tool.

Reporting - The reporting section provides statistics on the use of the application.

eReference Tool - Clicking this link will open the eReference Tool. You can find more information on this tool here.

Conference Portal - Clicking this link will take you to the list of your authorized applications in the eConference Portal.

By default, the main screen lists all the textbases/indexes that were created by the signed-in user (Fig. 3.3):

You can change the view of the list of textbases/indexes by selecting the "Internal/External" option, and/or by choosing the type of the tool that the textbase/index is created for (e.g. eRef). Finally, you can also limit the subject to just one by selecting the appropriate Domain from the drop-down list.

Press the button to edit the textbase/index in question. Editing a textbase/index is similar to creating a new one and will be covered in more detail here. Click the "View" link to see the list of documents used in a textbase/index. The list of documents will be opened in a new window.

Press the button to copy the link to the textbase/index to your clipboard.

The check mark in the "Full Text" and "eRef" columns indicates if a textbase/index was created to be used in any of the two tools.

To get the information on the current status and the date a textbase/index was rebuilt, click the  symbol in the "Status" and "Rebuilt" columns.

Finally, to delete a textbase/index from the system, press the  button next to the item in question.
