2. What are the recommended browsers?

eLUNa is optimized for Google Chrome, but also works in other browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox.

3. Which type of files does eLUNa support?

eLUNa only supports .docx files of up to 1 MB. You can divide larger files into parts and upload them under the same job number.

4. How can I know if my file is in .docx format?

If you can’t see the file’s extension in your computer, go to Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Folder Options. Click on the View tab and uncheck the option: Hide extensions for known file types.

If the file is not in .docx format, go to File>Save As and select .docx in Save as type.

5. How can I prevent my file from disappearing from the Intray?

Your file will expire and be deleted from the Intray 9 days after the last change to a segment. If your file is about to expire, open and confirm any segment.

6. I am unable to upload my .docx file.

If you tried to upload a .docx file in Firefox and got the message “Only .docx files are supported”, follow these steps:

In the Firefox top menu bar, click on Help and select Troubleshooting Information.

The Troubleshooting Information tab will open.  In the Application Basics section, click on the Show Folder button and delete the file mimeTypes.rdf in the displayed dialog.

If you weren't able to upload your .docx file to Chrome, the problem might be related to Windows and can be solved through the following steps:

1. Go to Settings through the Windows Start menu and select System.

2. Select Apps & features and click on MS Office.

3. Select Quick Repair.

4. Restart your computer and try to upload the file to eLUNa

7.  I uploaded a document but it’s not showing up in the Intray.

After uploading a file, eLUNa may take a few minutes to process the file and show it in the Intray. If you don't see the file after a few minutes, it is usually due to one of these reasons:

a) You did not chose the correct target language in the intray before uploading. Make sure you select your target language at the top left, to the right of the duty station.

b) The job number you used is conflicting with the same job number in a different language combination. Try uploading the job again after changing the file name. Enter the job number with a target language letter appended, such as “1698721R”.

c) Your Word document contains more than one language or has the wrong language label. Highlight all the text in your document by pressing “Ctrl + A”. On the main menu, select the “Review” tab, then click “Language”, “Set Proofing Language” and select the appropriate language in the list. If that fails, you can take an existing Word file in the desired source language, delete its contents and replace them with the contents of your current document, then save it under a different file name.

d) Your Word file is corrupt. Try copying the contents to a new Word file and re-upload using a different file name.

8. I tried to upload a file but got an error message saying the language combination is not available.

The error message appears when the source language in the uploaded document cannot be recognized as such by the system. Please make sure that the source language of your document is currently supported in your duty station (see question 1) and that you selected the correct target language for your job.

Similarly, eLUNa might not be able to recognize the source language in multilingual documents. The part corresponding to each language should be uploaded separately.

9. I uploaded the wrong document. Can I delete it?

No. You cannot delete it. But, it will be permanently deleted from the Intray 9 days after the last change to a segment.

10. Who should I contact to report issues?

If you encounter problems with the Internet connection, contact your local Help Desk. Report issues first to you focal point or through the Report an Issue button in the Help menu. To suggest new features, contact your focal point or local Coordinator.

11. How do I enable or disable the spellchecker or add words or dictionaries?

 In Firefox, follow these steps:

  1. Click the menu button  and choose Options.
  2. Select the Advanced panel.
  3. Click the General tab.
  4. Select Check my spelling as I type.
  5. Close the about:preferences page.

In Chrome, follow these steps:

1. Right-click inside an open segment.

2. Select Spellcheck.

3. Check the target language.

4. Select Check the spelling of text fields.

If the language you wish to use is greyed out, click on Language Settings, then click on the name of that language in the list and check the box labeled "Use this language for spell checking".

Select Language Settings and click on Add to add dictionaries for other languages. Click on Custom spelling dictionary to add new words.

12. I have received an edited text. What should I do?

If you translated a text in eLUNa and you receive the edited source text, upload it under the same job number as the original file. eLUNa will detect segments that are the same and will automatically replace them with confirmed translations from the original file.

If you are working on the edited text and you only want to see suggestions from your previous translation of the original file, deselect all indexes. This will leave only suggestions from the eLUNa draft.

13. Can I use AutoHotkey in eLUNa?

Yes, AutoHotkey can be used in eLUNa.

14. Does eLUNa support voice recognition software?

Yes. Since the translation box in eLUNa is a standard browser text box, any voice recognition software that is able to type in these text boxes may be used at any time.

eLUNa now supports Google Speech when using Chrome. Click on the microphone icon to activate the voice to text functionality in any of the eLUNa languages. Text spoken will be transcribed in the editing box.

eLUNa has also been tested to work well in most languages with Google Chrome + Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 and higher. Dictation and most commands work well as long as the translation box is open and active. If you are a frequent user of Dragon, you probably know you can also emulate specific keystrokes using voice shortcuts. In order to do so in eLUNa (i.e. in your web browser), please refer to the next question to see a list of available shortcuts.

22. I activated Apply Text and Apply Term in Pretranslate and now I can't undo them.

If you have activated the Apply Text and/or Apply Term functions, you can deactivate them and have all segments returned to the previous status by clicking once again on the check mark button.

It is possible that the button will show inactive and not allow you to undo the pretranslation.

To override this, open and close any segment in the file. This will once again turn the option active and allow you to undo pretranslation.

23. I am trying to correct a bitext but I can't download the Bitext Aligner.

If you get this message when you are trying to download the Aligner:

You might need to add the website to your “trusted sites” by following these steps:

- In your Microsoft Explorer browser, go to Tools>Options>Security tab>Trusted Sites>Sites

- Add https://cms.unov.org to the list of websites and click Close. Back in the Security Tab,  click OK

Although you can try very similar steps in other browsers, we recommend using the Aligner in Microsoft Explorer.

25. What should I do if I work in an environment with frequent internet or power failures?

When working in an environment with an unstable internet connection or electricity supply, the following steps can be helpful:

- If possible, use a laptop with a good battery or a desktop with a backup power supply.

- The first feature to suffer from connection problems is machine translation. If you experience a slow response from MT, try turning it off temporarily by selecting “None” under “MT” on the main toolbar.

- If there is a power outage and your machine shuts down, do not use the browser “Restore” function after the machine reboots. Instead, close the browser window, reopen it and log in to eLUNa.

- Create a bookmark to your document.

In any case, note that the confirmed segments are saved on remote servers and your work will not be lost.

26. Why is the Find and Replace function not finding words in my document?

It is possible that the page has not fully loaded. To load all pages, scroll down or press the Space key or Page Down on your keyboard until you reach the end of your document.

27. How does eLUNa help with shared jobs?

If different files or parts of a file are uploaded under the same job number, users will share the draft memory and will be able to see their colleagues' translation of similar segments.

28. Why did eLUNa skip portions of my document?

eLUNa skips any text enclosed in double square brackets [[]]. The double brackets are usually a convention used by editors to insert remarks. If your document has text between double square brackets that you would like eLUNa to display, replace the square brackets in the original file with something else before uploading the file. Also note that eLUNa skips text marked as hidden.
